Thomas Franklin Blocker, son of James and Mary Blocker, was born in Scott County, near Benton, May 27, 1860, and died Aug 7, 1943, at his home near Chaffee, aged 83 years, 2 months and 10 days.
Uncle Tom, as he was known to most people, had lived his entire life in Scott County and on the present farm near Chaffee since he was seven years old. He was united in marriage in 1883 to Theodosia Byrne, who preceded him in death last December. To this union was born two daughters and six sons.
Mr. Blocker is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Laura Howell of Roseville Mi., and Mrs. Alma Norrid of Detroit, Mi., and five of the sons, Bat and Earl Blocker of Detroit, Grover Blocker of Sikeston, Jerome Blocker of Oran and Webster who resided with his father near Chaffee. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, seven nieces and eight nephews.
