Aurora Mine
Walter Welch was killed in a cave in at the Daisy Bell mine two miles east of Aurora.
James Walter Raleigh Welch was born to James B. and Jesse June Hawkins Welch. He married Ida Mae Calton on November 26, 1903 in Barry County Missouri. They had one son, George Ancil Welch on Oct 11, 1904. His beautful bride passed on Feb 5, 1906, in Aurora. On March 30, 1907, he married Ada Agness McClure. Walter and Ada had two children, Maymie Marie born in 1908 and Walter Lee was born Feb 22, 1910. Walter had already passed when Walter Lee was born. Had he lived long enough he would have had 9 grandchildren.
He built a barn and he let George Ancil help build the barn and Walter bragged about what good help Ancil was. This is the only memory Ancil has that he knows for sure that he remembers of his dad because there was no one else there to remember it for him. Beverley Anne Welch Garringer
