Mrs. M. J. Wolcott, widow of Stephen W. Wolcott was buried in the old Newtonia cemetery last Monday beside her husband who died in 1892, Rev. R. J. Kyle conducting the services at the grave.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Wolcott was living on her forty acre farm near Splitlog, McDonald county; she was ill but a few days with pneumonia, and died on Sunday morning, April 17, 1904, at 4 o'clock; she was 76 yrs., 9 months old. Her maiden name was Mary J. Gibson; she was married to Stephen W. Wolcott fifty five years ago. She leaves six children, four sons and two daughters, Frank Wolcott of California, Charles of the Indian Territory, James of Montrose, Kansas, John of Joplin, Mo., Mrs. Frank Grimes and Mrs. Eurania Vosburg of Splitlog, Mo.

Mrs. Wolcott was a resident of Newtonia for many years, being among its early settlers and only moved from here a few years ago. She was a Christian woman, and had no fears of death. She left her property to her widowed daughter, Mrs. Euran Vosburg, who lived with her. She was sick such a short time, that her children, who were telegraphed the news of her illness, did not get the word in time to see her alive, Charles and John Wolcott only arrived in time for the burial. Mrs. Vosburg, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad, Mr. and Mrs. Bowman accompanied the remains from Splitlog. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their friends in this great sorrow, the loss of a dear mother.
