Earl COUTS

Hammond Cemetery
Christian County,
Missouri

April 20, 1892 - March 30, 1916
Son of Wade Franklin & Sarah L. (Davis) Couts

Earl Couts, a young married man aged 23 years, living in the brick house on Spring street, slipped from a ledge of rock Thursday afternoon, plunging into what is commonly known as the “Blue Hole” in Finley Creek, which is some 10 or 15 feet deep at that place and drowning before aid could be procured. Several parties fishing along the creek were in sight and saw him fall in but were unable to render any assistance until too late. The body was recovered some 45 minutes later, but all efforts at restoration failed and the body was taken to his home near by and prepared for burial. Funeral services were held Friday with burial in the Highlandville cemetery
