Funeral services were held at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter for Herbert (Hub) Gilmer, of Mobile, Ala. The pastor, Rev. W.E. Hall officiated and interment was in the Mount Zion Cemetery with the German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Mr. Gilmer, 39, died from a blood clot. The body was brought to the home of his mother, Mrs. Jennie Gilmer, Thursday afternoon. He was a veteran of World War II and was a prisoner of war for two years.
Pallbearers were Virgil Jones, O.D. Bond, Doc Barger, Melvin Clark, Charlie Fisher, John Whitener, Ben Hatton, Joe Talkington, Dink Lawler, Carl Hamel, Ted Fisher and Bill Jenkins.
Among those from out of town here for the funeral of Mr. Gilmer were Mrs. Herbert Gilmer and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Euwen McClure and children of Mobile, Ala.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Welch, Loxley, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Villie Gilmer of Yorkville, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. C. Jernigan and children, Bells, Tenn.; Mrs. Edna Earl Flowers and James Flowers, Trenton, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. Theo Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Milfred Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gunn of Newburn, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Clark, Memphis; Mrs. Mack Overall, Kinnon, Tenn.; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Tip Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Clark and Joe Talkington of New Madrid and Mrs. Nettie Lou Turner of Blytheville.
