Sewell petty, the 13 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Petty died August 20, 1922 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, where he was taken two weeks ago for an operation for appendicitis. Just after the operation Sewell was thought to be getting along nicely, until last Saturday, when he grew worse, and it was found necessary to perform another operation, and at this second operation Sewell passed away, to cease from suffering and trouble, to live at peace with God. His father and mother were with him when the end came. The body was prepared for burial and was returned to this city Monday night. Funeral services were held at the home at Maplewood Wednesday afternoon by the pastor of the Hayti Methodist Church, and interment was made at the Holly Cemetery. Besides his father and mother, three sisters and one brother, he leaves a host of playmates to mourn his departure.
