Marion Sweatt of 515 North Walnut Street died at Hayti Memorial Hospital July 5, 1960 at the age of 65. A retired truck driver, he was born in Selmer, Tennessee. He had lived in this area for 33 years.
Final rites were held at the Chapel of the German Funeral Home at 3;00 July 5. Rev. Roy W. Bevan, pastor of the Methodist Church in Steele officiated with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Sweatt, of Steele; a son, James R. Sweatt of Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Maileen Harris of Birmingham, Alabama; four grandchildren; a half brother and three brothers in Selmer, Tenn.
