Funeral services for Fred James Brixey, 93, West Plains and formerly of Kansas City, Mo., were Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Brixey died at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at West Vue Nursing Center. He was born Nov. 16, 1916, in Howell County, Mo., to Hobert and Mona Burgin Brixey. On March 15, 1942, he was married at West Plains, Mo., to Agnes Wood. Mr. Brixey was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. For 28 years, he was employed by the Railway Express and served as president of the Railways Express Union. Before his retirement, he worked as the doorman for Sulgrave Apartments in Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Brixey was a Christian. He is survived by his wife, Agnes Brixey, of the family home; one son, Ronald James Brixey, West Plains, Mo.; one sister, Oralee Cearley, Pomona, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. His parents; one son, Dennis Brixey; two brothers; and three sisters, precede him in death. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.
