Funeral services for Winfred “John” Callahan, 75, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Callahan died at 8:20 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Brooke Haven Health Care.
He was born July 3, 1937, at South Fork, Missouri, to John Edmon “Edd” and Alpha Easley Callahan. Mr. Callahan was a veteran having served in the United States Army; he served in France as a military policeman. On June 9, 1967, he was married at South Fork, Missouri, to LaVonna Cobb. Before his retirement, he worked for many years at Amyx Manufacturing and at Southwest Truck Body. Mr. Callahan was a devoted Christian with his membership in the West 160 Church of Christ. He loved the Lord and all of his family.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonna Callahan, of the family home; two sons, Brian Callahan, wife, Dina, Gassville, Arkansas and Scott Callahan, wife, Heather, West Plains, Missouri; grandchildren, Stacie , Hayden Callahan, Tamera, Luke, Briar and Kadence Callahan; one brother, Earl Callahan, West Plains, Missouri; four sisters, Ella Drumright, husband, Jesse, Genevieve Gentry, Dona Hall, husband, Gerald, all of West Plains, Missouri and Lea Langston, husband, Jim, Gassville, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, four brothers, Omer, Jack, Hayden and Donnie Callahan and one sister, Agnes Hunt, precede her in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Amy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. On line condolences may be expressed at robertsondrago.com.
