Funeral services for Joe M. Cook, 71, of Louisiana were held at 10 a.m., Saturday at the First Christian Church in Louisiana. The Rev. Al Boatman officiated. Members of Elks Lodge #791 conducted memorial services at 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Frankford.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.

Joe died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 26, 1941 in Kahoka, the son of Virgil and Helen Magness Cook. He married Lillian F. Salmons Aug. 20, 1960 in Mexico. She survives.

He is also survived by one son, the Rev. Terry Cook and wife, Kathi of Louisiana; one daughter, Sherri Pellham and husband, Ted of Springfield; four grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Bob Cook and wife, Linda of Hannibal; and nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Frankford High School and attended the Hannibal-LaGrange College at Hannibal.

He had been employed as a printer for Western Publishing Company in Hannibal for 17 years. He then worked for KPCR Radio Station in Bowling Green as an announcer for 12 years. He then went into business opening the Eagle Business Products in Louisiana, which he owned and operated for 21 years.

He was a member and Deacon of the First Christian Church in Louisiana. A member of Elks Lodge 791, 37 year member of the Louisiana Rotary Club and had a perfect attendance record, member of the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce and Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce. He was a long time leader of Boy Scout Troop 156 in Louisiana. He was a volunteer/field staff for American Motorcyclist Association for 40 years.

Joe loved traveling and had traveled extensively in North America and had ridden his motorcycle hundreds of thousands of miles.

Honorary pallbearers were Flip Flaherty, Hayden Adkison, John Sitton, Jeff Guay and Phil Frame. Pallbearers were Walt Crew, Kenny Six, Dale Knaus, Ernie Winchel, Virgil Beer and Doug Rader.
