Foster Ray Easley, Brashear's funeral director for the past 48 years, died in a Kirksville hospital yesterday morning at 11:45. He had been a patient at the hospital the past eight weeks. He was 71 years old.
Funeral services will be held at the Easley Funeral Home here tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock conducted by the Rev. Romans Smith, pastor of the First Christian Church in Kirksville. Interment will be in Maple Hills cemetery.
Mr. Easley, the son of George B. and Alice (Spencer) Easley was born in the New Harmony community in Knox Coutny, east of LaPlata on November 28, 1880. He attended the Kirksville State Normal School in the late 1890's. He taught for a few years in the rural schools of northen Macon county and was principal of the Gibbs school two years. Following this he took a business course and graduated from the Gem City Business College in Quincy. Later he graduated from the Worsham School of Embalming in Chicago. On February 8, 1904 he moved to Brashear and established a furniture and undertaking business. He served three terms as coroner of Adair county.
On February 20, 1904 he was married to Leolah Mae Workman and three children were born to this marriage.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Rogers of Decatur, IL and Mrs. H.G. (Dorothy) Ridge of LaPlata; one son, Byron Easley of Hurdland; a foster daughter, Mrs. William (Maxine) Johnson of Hyattsville, MD; nine grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Hattie E. Young of 1201 E. Harrison in Kirksville.
Mr. Easley was a member of the Brashear Christian Church and of Paulville A.F. & A.M. Lodge No. 319.
The body will lie in state at the Easley Funeral Home.
Active bearers will be Gene Lyons, Charles F. Taylor, George Douglas, Hurley Traylor, Virgil Hanks and Foster Moore. Honorary bearers will be Guy Miller, Dallas Lockett, George Gardner, Fred Barker, F.P. Henry, Woodrow Kite, Dr. H.M. Humphrey, Everett Hunt, W.E. Milstead, J.A. Johnston, Pearl Chadwell, Rex Meline, Gene Swisher, Oren Ray Petree and J.M. Kennedy.

Foot Note: Mr. Easley was a well-known and respected Funeral Director in Brashear, Missouri. He moved to Brashear in 1904 where he established the Easley Furniture and Undertaking business, later becoming the Easley Funeral Home which he operated for 48 years. He also served three terms as the Adair County Coroner. Following the death of his son, Byron Easley, in 1957, the Easley Funeral Home was purchased by A.G. Rimer of Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

"Foster R. Easley was born in Knox County, Missouri, November 28, 1880. His parents are George B. and Alice M. Easley. He married Leolah M. Workman, daughter of Byron F. and Sabina Workman, February 20, 1904. They have three children: Juanita Fae, born February 18, 1905; George Byron, born August 27, 1906; and Dorothy Ray Easley, born August 25, 1910.
Mr. Easley was born and reared on a farm. He attended the rural schools until fifteen years old, then attended the La Plata High School for two years. He completed the elementary course at the Missouri State Normal School at Kirksville, after which he took a business course at the Gem City Business College of Quincy, Illinois. After completing his school work he held the principalship of the Gibbs Public School for two years. For the past few years he has been engaged in the undertaking business at Brashear. At present he is coroner of Adair County, having been elected in November, 1908. He is a licensed embalmer, holding a Missouri State license Number 1146.
Mr. Easley came to Adair County September 1, 1901. He owns residence property in Brashear. He is Republican in politics and belongs to the Christian church. The A.F. and A.M., Knights Templar, M.W.A. and I.O.O.F. lodges claim him as a member."
