Funeral services were held Monday, August 5, 1974, at 3:00 p.m. for Louie Vest Strong at the Church of Christ in Steele with Mr. Franklin Williams officiating.
Born May 23, 1907, at Scopus, Mo., he was the son of the late Logan and Mary McCray Strong. He died August 3, 1974 at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti at the age of 67.
Mr. Strong was employed by the Commercial Appeal as a carrier prior to his retirement. He was married to Audrey Cook at Caruthersville on September 20, 1941.
A son, Don, preceded him in death April 20, 1959.
Mr. Strong leaves his widow, Audrey Strong, Steele; one son, Mulley Strong, Scopus; one daughter, Annice Davis, Muscle Shoals, Ala.; one sister, Mary Cumins, Porterville, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were John Allbritton, Mike Williams, Britt Grice, Glin Miller, Russ Fullerton and Mike Clark.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Cooper, Roy Barnes, C.T. Bingham, Homer Ledford, W.D. Whitfield and Sam Ellis.
