Roscoe "Ross" Len Merchant, 21 years, of Pineville, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, October 15, 2007 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri.

Ross was born on January 22, 1986 in Grove, Oklahoma, son of Johnny W. and Belinda K. (Magee) Merchant. He was born with cerebral palsy which limited his body but never limited his spirit. Ross was known as Mr. Smiley to his family and friends. He was joyful and happy just to be with those he loved. Ross loved listening to music and being sung to by his family. His time on earth was short but the impact he had on those around him will live on forever. Ross will be greatly missed until the time of their reunion in Heaven.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Ann Hurley; and his paternal grandfather, Dan Merchant.

Ross is survived by his loving mother, Belinda Williams and husband, Bob, of Pineville, Missouri; his father, Johnny Merchant of Grove, Oklahoma; two sisters, Jill Willis and husband, Brandon, of Anderson, Missouri and Heather Merchant of Grove, Oklahoma; four step brothers, Kodi Hurley and Kyle Hurley both of Tiff City, Missouri and Bobby Williams and Mark Williams both of Neosho, Missouri; his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Nell Magee of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Paternal grandmother, Floydeene Hazen and husband, George, of Grove, Oklahoma; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Roscoe Len "Ross" Merchant are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2007 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Curt Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummins Cemetery near Tiff City, Missouri. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Jerry Magee, Jr., Larry Magee, Norman Magee, Brandon Willis, Kodi Hurley and Kyle Hurley. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
