Freddie Dewayne Grant, formerly of Steele, died Saturday, Nov. 26 at his home in Columbus, Ga.
Born Oct. 22, 1984 in Hayti, he is the son of Freddie Lee Mayberry and Dorothy Mae Grant.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Grant; one brother, Deangelo Lamar Mayberry; his grandfather, John A. Grant; his grandmother, Clara M. Grant; his great-grandmother, Dorothy Williams; great-grandfather, John (JW) Williams; two aunts; three uncles; and one special cousin.
Freddie grew up in Steele, and graduated from South Pemiscot High School. Soon after he joined the Army where he trained in Fort Leonard, Ga.
Mr. Grant confessed a hope in Christ at an early age of 13 at Morning Star under the leadership of Pastor Larry Bell. He was faithful in serving God.
Mr. Grant leaves his father, Freddie Lee Mayberry and mother, Dorothy Mae Grant, of Steele; Two children: Gabriel Grant of Fort Benning, Ga., and Laterean Grant of Blytheville, Ark.; One brother, Christopher Allen Grant; One sister, Randi Rochell Mayberry; Five aunts; Three uncles; One very loving grandmother, Mary Lee Gordon, of Steele; Five great-uncles; Three great-aunts; Two nieces; Two nephews.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
