Bob Wilkins, of Vanzant, passed away Saturday morning, January 14, 2017, while at his home due to natural causes. Born on March 1, 1935 to O.B. and Hanna (Crossland) Wilkins in Richland, MO; he was 81 years old.
Bob moved to Vanzant when he was 10 years old and attended the Willow Springs Schools. He graduated from Willow Springs High School with the class of 1952. Shortly thereafter he married his high school sweetheart, Audie Clinton, on June 11, 1953 in Willow Springs. To this union, two sons were born. Bob was self employed as a farmer, raising both dairy and beef cows. He was farming up until the day of his passing. Bob's many enjoyments included music, music, and more music. He was an accomplished musician as well as a published songwriter. This led to his longstanding friendships with both Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton. Bob also enjoyed watching football and movies on T.V. and he especially enjoyed watching anything having to do with country music. Bob liked staying around the farm and being with his family. He was constantly working on the farm because there was "always something needing to be done."
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and one infant son, Allan L. Wilkins.
He is survived by his wife, Audie A. Wilkins and his son, Larry Wilkins and his wife, Patty of Vanzant. He is further survived by two grandchildren; Chris Wilkins of Vanzant and Morgan Jones of Salem AR. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews along with other friends and relatives.
A graveside funeral service for Bob will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Willow Springs City Cemetery at 2:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
