He was the son of Hershel and Edith (Hoenshell) Ash. On October 9, 1981 he was united in marriage to Darlene Buchanan.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Betty Smith and a brother-in-law, Bill Wallace.
Larry grew up and received his education at Purdy, where he graduated from high school. During the Vietnam War he served in the United States Army from November 3, 1966 until November 1, 1968. After returning to Barry County he became a cattle farmer. He was employed at Wintech and did construction work in the area.
