Thomas "Colonel" POTTER

Potter Cemetery
Greene County,
Missouri

28 Dec 1806 TN
4 Feb 1854
Son of William S Potter and Ruth McKey or Mackey
Husband of Mary Rachel Marshall

*I cannot find any record of his military service. He was not in The Battle of the Thames in 1813 which took place in upper Canada, and was a battle in the War of 1812. It is also called the Battle of Moraviantown at which time he was 7. I believe the title Colonel is an honorary title of respect as opposed to a military rank.

He may have been a Sheriff in Greene Co as there is a reference in a book that Sheriff Potter died in Feb of 1854, which I believe that is what on this headstone.

If you have any information regarding his possible military or police service, please email me. I would like to see that this gentleman has all the respect he is do.

Thank you,
