Robert Hoyt
Robert Reginald Hoyt, 73, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2017, at his home in Monett, Mo.
Born on February 20, 1944, in Sacramento, Calif., he was the son of Walter Jason Hoyt, Jr. and Marian Naomi Blair Hoyt. Bob graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1962. Bob served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints following high school, to the Southern States Mission in Atlanta, Ga. He later graduated from Sacramento State University with a degree in Social Work.
On April 19, 1968, Bob married Karla Johnson in Oakland, Calif. Bob was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He will be remembered for his love of travel and his ability to play the piano by ear. He shared this talent throughout his life. Bob and Karla lived in California and Alaska before moving their family to Monett in 1980, where he lived until his death.
Bob is survived by his children, Melanie Hills and husband Todd, Nathan Hoyt and wife Enid, Aaron Hoyt and wife Gretchen, Daniel Hoyt and wife Megan, and Lori Hoyt. Bob has seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as his siblings, Blair Hoyt, Ric Hoyt, Seth Hoyt, Steve Hoyt, Jeff Hoyt and Jana Root. He was preceded in death by three children, Joanna Elizabeth Hoyt (1), Robert Brye Hoyt (12), and Julie Alissa Hoyt (12), as well as his parents, and one brother, Walter Jason Hoyt III, and one sister, Marian Ann Hoyt.
A family service was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Monett. A graveside service will follow on September 30, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at the King's Prairie Cemetery, Monett. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Camp Barnabas in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.
