A celebration of life service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in memory of Juergen Richter. The service will be at 220 North Kentucky Ave. Richter passed away Dec. 3, 2018, at the age of 57 years.
Juergen was born on Dec. 7, 1960, in Munich, Germany, to Guenther and Susanne Richter. Juergen attended Schloss Salem Privatschule in Baden Wuerttemberg and completed a masters degree in pharmacy at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. Richter operated Karl’s Pharmacy in Dornstadt, Germany, for five years until 1993 when he moved with his family to West Plains. Juergen operated Nick’s Gun and Pawn from 1995 to 2017 during which time he served as a reserve sheriff’s deputy and SWAT team member.
Anyone who knew Juergen knows that he embodied a unique mix of traits. He was a scholar with an insatiable desire to learn about everything from the classical to the practical. He enjoyed classical music, history, marksmanship and the outdoors.
There have never been enough shelves in our home or in our hearts on which we could fit his books, his “gear,” his knowledge, his service, his skills, his provision, his protection, or his quiet care for family, friends and neighbors.
Juergen Richter is survived by his wife Rhonda (West Plains), son Philipp and wife Erica (Bentonville, Ark.), daughter Kelly Pompei and husband Kyle (West Plains), daughter Alexandra (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), brother Christoph Richter and wife Elke (Neu-Ulm, Germany), and his mother Susanne Richter (Neu-Ulm, Germany).
Juergen was preceded in death by his father, Guenther.
