Mr. William “Bill” Younger, Sr. of Willow Springs, MO passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 while at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born December 11, 1928 in Ellis, KS to Fred and Anna (Boos) Younger. He was 90 years old.
Bill grew up in Ellis, KS and moved to Derby, CO at age 8. In 1942, his family moved to Henderson, CO. He was later drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 and proudly served his country for a short time before receiving a medical discharge. On May 3, 1952 he was married to the love of his life, Janet Ann Sewald. To this union, five children were born: 2 daughters and 3 sons. They lived in Derby, CO for a short time before moving to Brighton, CO where they lived for 4 ½ years. They then moved to Exeter, MO and twelve years later to a dairy farm near Willow Springs, MO. They lived on the farm for 28 years until he retired, and they moved to their present home outside of Willow Springs. After his retirement from the farming life, Bill had time for several hobbies. He built and remodeled homes and did the landscaping as well. He restored many antique tractors; he also competed in hot rod tractor pulls on a tractor he built himself. Bill loved camping, boating, and making handmade furniture. He was also described as an avid reader. He also loved to travel and had been to 48 states and Canada.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Anna Younger; two sisters; six brothers; his son, Leslie Younger; his granddaughter, Christy and two great grandsons, Tyler and Dakota.
Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janet Ann; two daughters, Mary Ann Nelson and her husband, Jim of Exeter, MO, and Debbie Friga and her husband, Kem of Pomona, MO; two sons, William (Bill) Younger, Jr. and his wife, Becky also of Exeter, MO and Jesse Younger of Seymour, MO. Further survivors include his brother, Ernest; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The rosary will be recited Monday, September 2, 2019 from 6:30 to 7:00 P.M. at Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willow Springs with Father Sherman Wall officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Springs City Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
