Killed While Sawing Tree Down

Paul Stumpff struck By Split Body of Falling Tree, Neck Broken.

PAUL STUMPFF, 30 years old, a resident of the Cato community, was almost instantly, killed Thursday afternoon while be was at work with a chain saw, felling timber.

The tree was almost sawed through when the body split and the split end flew up and struck Mr. Stumpff, breaking his neck and crushing his chest.

His nephew who was working with him ran for help and Mr. Stumpff was place in a car and rushed to the Berry County Hospital but was dead when they arrived at the Hospital.

he is survived buy his widow and six small sons; two brothers, Olen Stumpff and Ernest Stumpff of Cato; and a sister, Mrs. Troy Short of West Plains. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stumpff, long-time residents of the Cato community.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Clio.
