Venard "Rodey" Rodeberg, 84, of Bella Vista died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at Circle of Life Earline Howard Hospice house in Springdale. Rodey was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Montevideo, Minn., to Lois and Adolph Rodeberg. He grew up there with his brother Leo, who also passed away this year.

He served as a Navy pilot during World War II and was stationed in San Deigo. He attained the rank of lieutenant. On June 4, 1945, he was united in marriage to Ruby Clark of Butler, Mo.

When his service in the Navy ended, Rodey rejoined Trans World Airlines where he bad worked before the war. He became a pilot for TWA and flew planes from the Constellation to the Boeing 747 jumbo jets for more than 40 years. As a captain for TWA, he traveled the world, retiring in 1983 to Bella Vista.

In Bella Vista, he was an active member of the United Lutheran Church. He also volunteered at Helping Hands steadfastly for many years and belonged to many organizations including the Quiet Bird Men, Fly Tiers and Shepherd Group.

Rodey is survived by his daughter and her husband, Kristin and Boyd Aust of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter and her husband, Kerry and Jerald Krepps of Minneapolis; and son and his wife, Mitchell and Jane Rodeberg of Kansas City, Mo. He is further survived by three grandchildren, Aaron Aust and his wife Rachel, Ethan Aust and Walker Krepps as well as one great-grandchild, Ruby Aust. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, and son, Michael and brother Leo.

Funeral services for Rodey Rodeberg will be held of 3 p.m. Monday, April 9 at United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, 72715 (479) 855-1325. The Rev. Fred Nelson, pastor, will officiate.

Relatives and friends are welcome to stop by the church at 1 p.m. until the hour of services.

A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. at Oakhill Cemetery in Butler, Mo.
