SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. - Norman Nelson Arnold, 93 of Southwest City died April 17, 2007,
at Neosho (Mo.) Medical Lodge. He was born Sept. 7, 1913, in Rye, Colo., to Earl Arnold and Flora Brady. He moved to Pueblo, Colo., in his 20s and went to work for the steel mill. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. In 2003, he received a commendation and medal from the French government for his bravery. He was a member of the American Legion for 50 years and had served as the commander in the local unit and as vice commander in the 15th District. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Southwest City. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Eugene Arnold, a stepdaughter, Bonnie VanDorn and a granddaughter, LaDonna Otten.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Helen Marie Arnold of Neosho Medical Lodge; one daughter, Pam McConnell of Pueblo, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Jo L. Michael of Kansas, Okla.; two stepsons, Gilbert Caulk of Grove, Okla., and Allen Caulk of Jasper, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be at 10 a.m. today at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery with Rob Walker officiating.

Pallbearers will be members of Pineville/Jane American Legion Post 392. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Beard, Mike Nieters, Donald Joe Orler, Everette Holly, Aldred Dixon and Jerry Otten.

Arrangements are by Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Mo.
