Phil C. Harper, 76, Goodman, Mo., left this world to spend eternity with Jesus at 4:54 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003, at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., following a lengthy illness. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Wilton, Ark., to Clint and Ora May (Shipman) Harper. He worked for T.A. Kilgore Co. in League City, Texas, for 20 years and for Basil Oil Service in East Texas, before retiring in 1982. He was an active member of Splitlog Baptist Church in Goodman, Mo. He and Noreen Neff were married Aug. 17, 1990, and she survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Danny Harper of Riverton, Kan., and Ron Harper and his wife, Debbie, of Willis, Texas; one daughter, Teresa Klopping of Hot Springs, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Gwen Seaman of Joplin, Mo., and Vicky Michael and husband, Phil, of Fairview, Mo.; one stepson, Rich Neff and wife, Penny, of Neosho, Mo.; two brothers, Wyndell Harper and wife, Kathy, of Sugarland, Texas, and Wayne Harper and wife, Bubbles, of Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mercedes Bower. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Splitlog Baptist Church. The Rev. Chadd Pendergraft officiated. Burial followed in the Banner Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Phelps, James Davidson, Gene Collins, Jarod Lewis, B.J. Jordan, Kenneth Anderson and Larry Dowell. Honorary pallbearers were James Martin, Fred Hall and Vernie Cook.
