John was the son of James and Sarah Bomer. He was married twice. The first marriage was with Kizsiriah Jane Bain with whom he had eleven children. The second marriage was to Sarah O'Dell and they had three children.

Jun 8, 1837 - Mar 16, 1889
The daughter of Frederick M and Susannah Andrews Bain. She was married to John Alin Bomer on March 14, 1853 in Maury County, Tennessee. Together they had eleven children.
