THOS. MEDEARIS DIED
WEDNESDAY AT HOME
NEAR HARWOOD

Thos. W. Medearis, seventy-one years old, died at his home near Harwood Wednesday afternoon. He is survived by his widow and his children, Frank C. Medearis, Carthage; Wm. C., Schell City; Thomas W., Kansas City; Joseph C., Rockwell, Iowa; James T. and Emmett, who lived with their parents; Mrs. John Campbell, Cristy, Wis.; Mrs. Geo. Hedley, Burden, Kas.; Mrs. Alta Averton, Schell City; Mrs. Albert Caruthers, and Miss Cleta Medearis, Shell City, and twenty-three grandchildren. He came to Nevada from Sarcoxie in 1917.

NOTE: I have, in my possession, "Following Pa to the Promised Land", by T. W. Medearis, that his son, Roger compiled.

NOTE: There is a painting of Susan done by her grandson Roger Medearis in 1941, titled "Godly Susan", at the Smithsonian American Art Museum,a gift of Roger & Elizabeth Medearis. Roger studied under Thomas Hart Benton at the Kansas City Art Institute.
