Died, November 7th, 1897, David T. Harris, age 71 years, 9 months. He was born February 7, 1826, in Pittsylvania county, Virginia. Married November 26, 1846. Emigrated to Tennessee and from there to Missouri in 1874.
There were eleven children born unto him. Three are dead, two girls and one boy. Eight boys are living. Two are in Colorado, two are in Virginia and one in Christian county, Missouri, while three are living in Newton county.
He was converted in 1853, first joining the Methodist afterward joining the Dunkards and finally joining the Baptist in about 1878, being baptized by Elder A. V. Greer into the Big Spring Baptist church. He occupied the position as clerk of this church for several years.
He came to his death very suddenly, having a stroke of Paralysis. The funeral service was held in the Big Spring Baptist church. The sermon preached by the writer to many of his sorrowing relatives and friends. His body was laid to rest in the Dice cemetery to await the resurrection morning. T. L. Largen.
