"Mrs. J. T. Culp died at her home south of Newtonia last Sunday, October 17, 1897, of typhoid fever.
She was formerly Miss Kittie Hart, and was known and loved by all who knew her. She was a member of the Christian church, a good mother and wife.
Her husband is just able to be up from the fever and only last week she lost her little six months old babe. It is a sore bereavement to the husband and four children.
Funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Krutsinger and at the grave by Rev. Tandy. She was interred in the old Newtonia cemetery."
