1930 January 31, "Pineville Democrat," HALLING, John
John Halling was born May 8, 1844 at Pittsburg, Pa.; died Saturday, Jan 25, 1930 at his home in Lanagan, age 85 years... He enlisted in the Union Army Aug 8, 1863 and was discharged June 25, 1865. He was married to Cordelia Dunaway in Ft. Scott, Kans. April 24, 187?. To this union were born eleven children, 9 of whom are living. They are J. L. Halling, Anderson, Mo.; Minnie Davis, Hutchinson, Kans.; Emma Roberts, Englewood, Calif.; Will Halling, Jet-More, Kans.; Albert Halling, Hanson, Kans.; Treese [sic] Ragan, Joplin, Mo.; Ida Eppard, Anderson, Mo.; Rebecca Elliff, Pineville, Mo.; There are about fifty grandchildren surviving.
Mr. Halling came to McDonald County in April 1896 and since that time he has made many friends in this section of the county who will sadly miss him. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Dr. Wiles and the body buried in the Anderson cemetery under the direction of the Carnell Undertaking Co.
