Jasper Hershel "Herschel" APPLEBY

Hammond Cemetery
Christian County,
Missouri

December 28, 1892 - January 5, 1906
Son of Benjamin Franklin & Sarah A Appleby

Died, at his home in Highlandville, Hershel, the 13 year old son of Frank and Sarah Appleby, after an illness of about a year. He leaves one little brother and sister and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his loss. His little friends and school mates were pall bearers. He was a noble boy and loved by all who knew him. He loved every body, and the love he bore his mother and all his family was wonderful. He was patient and everything mamma die was all right with Hershel. He never murmured and was always ready for every dose of medicine mamma gave him. Little Herschel was a good example for all his little friends to follow; he would not do anything mamma and papa said was wrong; he did not want to see mamma in trouble. In losing Hershel the community has lost a noble boy and the family a loving son and brother; but their loss is his gain; he is done with all suffering in this world and is at rest. The pearly gate was opened, a gentle voice said “Come”, and with farewells unspoken, he calmly entered home.
