Mr. S. S. Gimlin, an old citizen died of heart failure at his home near Highlandville, August 16, 1915, aged 72 years 10 months and 4 days and was buried in the Highlandville cemetery, Tuesday 17th, the funeral services being conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. S. Hanks. Mr. Gimlin was born October 12, 1842 and married to Tabitha Hamrick August 21, 1872. He professed faith in Christi at Prospect at an early age but did not unite with the church until November 1914. He united with the Highlandville Baptist church and was baptized July 11. He is survived by his wife and three sons and a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss “Dearest Father, thou hast left us And our loss we deeply feel; But ‘tis God that has bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal Yet again, we hope to meet thee When the day of life is fled; When in Heaven, in joy to greet thee, Where no farewell tears are shed.
