While the family of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Slayton of Detroit, Mich., were enroute to Holland for a visit with relatives, their five weeks old baby son, Darryl Roy, died of a heart attack in Indiana on April 22, 1942. The baby's death was a severe shock to the family. The body was prepared for burial and sent to Holland for burial.
Funeral services were held at the Holland Methodist Church on April 25, by Rev. J. Arthur Brown, pastor. With the German Undertaking Co. in charge burial was made in Lester Cemetery.
The baby who was born on March 13, 1942, is survived by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Slayton, Mr. and Mrs. U. V. Lester, grandparents Mrs. Nannie Lester, great-grandmother, several aunts and uncles and a host of friends.
