Jacob Kasper (Bud) Smith died June 11, 1960 at his home at 415 Liberty Street, Steele. He was 79 years, 4 months and 29 days of age.

Uncle Bud, as he was affectionately called by many friends, had lived in this community 24 years. Mr. Smith was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee January 12, 1881, died in his sleep Saturday. He was a retired farmer.

Funeral services were held at the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Steele Monday, June 13. Rev. L.A. Crews conducted the service. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Sam Ellis, J.W. Rinehart, Neeley Owens, C.S. Allbritton, Claude McCord, and Joe Dial.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosie Lee Smith; two sons, Harry L. Smith of Hitchcock, Texas and Earsel Smith of Flint, Michigan; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Barnard, of Steele; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Three of the grandchildren, Jackie Reynolds, Mrs. Ollie Dean Stewart and Mrs. Shirley Burns were reared by Mr. and Mrs. Smith after the death of their daughter, Elsie Reynolds.

Funeral services for Rosie Lee Smith, 77, were held at Wesleyan Church in Steele August 31, 1968. Rev. L.A. Crews officiated.

Burial was at Mount Zion Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Smith was born August 9, 1891 at Concord, Mo., and died August 28, 1968 at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. Her husband, the late Jacob K. Smith, preceded her in death in 1960.

Pallbearers were Michael Smith, Randy Smith, Verlon Barnard, Eugene Barnard, Glenn Smith, and David Bowman.

She leaves two sons: Earsel Smith, Mount Morris, Mich.; and Harry Smith, Galveston, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Barnard, Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Hettie Slavings, Portageville; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held here Monday morning April 14, 1947 at 10:00 o'clock at the Assembly of God Church for Mrs. Elsie Lee Reynolds. The Rev. R.H. Sherrill conducted the services and interment was made in Mount Zion Cemetery with German Undertaking Co. in charge. She died at the family residence Saturday following a long illness. She was 31.

She is survived by her husband, Ollie Reynolds; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Smith of Steele; three children: Shirley, Ollie Dean and Jackie Reynolds of Steele; and two brothers, Earsel and Harry Smith of Steele.
