Obituary:
Graveside services for J. L. Thomas, 51, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 at Union Grove Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
J. L. went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:49 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012, in the comforts of his own home with his family by his side.
He was born August 16, 1961, at West Plains, Missouri, to Aaron and Rosa Thomas and continued to call West Plains his home through his entire life. On August 28, 1995, he was married to Susan Scharnhorst. J. L. enjoyed many of life’s simple treasures. He enjoyed stock car racing, farming, reading, being outdoors and spending time with his friends and family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three cherished grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Thomas, of the family home; daughters, Julie Miller, husband, Jimmy, Halie Thomas and Kaley Kohler; grandsons, Heston, Lincoln and Cameron Miller and another grandchild on the way; his mother, Rosa Thomas; two sisters, Sharon West and Sandy Whitworth; one brother, Mitts Thomas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.
His father, maternal grandparents, Ray and Ella Mitts and paternal grandparents, Eugene and Hazel Thomas, precede him in death.
J. L. was a devoted son, husband, father, papa and friend. He will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Mr. Thomas will lie in state from 5:00 p.m., Sunday until Noon Monday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Union Grove Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
