Solomon Parnell died in St. Louis, Mo., August 25, 1953 at 8:15 a.m. at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 10 dys. He was born September 16, 1876, in Tennessee, the son of Ledford and Nancy Parnell and came to Steele ten years ago, living in St. Louis.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Alonzo Barrow in charge of the service.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ezara Parnell of St. Louis, three sons Echliss and Carrow of St. Louis and Clint of Ridgely, Tenn.; five daughters, Mrs. Lillian Nelson of Alton, Ill., Mrs. Dimple Tally and Mrs. Thelma Poetz of St. Louis, Mrs. Delphia Parson of Greenfield, Ind. and Mrs. Ella Wade of Steele; one brother, Willie Parnell of East St. Louis, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Fidella Boss of Hickman, Ky.; 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pall bearers were Noel K. Wade, Wilbert Poetz, Fredman Hawkins, Wesley Robinson, Enis Flowers and Donner Talley. German Funeral Home was in charge and burial was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
