William Orvel Ellis was born Oct. 2nd, 1885; died July 16th, 1911; aged 25 years, 9 months and 14 days. His death record stated he died of typhoid. He was married at the time of his death and he was farming and living in Cass township, Texas couty, Missouri.
He was married to Virgie Mildred Darter Feb. 26th, 1911.
Orvel profesed a hope in Christ in Oct., 1901, united with the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member, ever willing to work for the cause of his Master.
He came to his father's to harvest, was taken sick with that dread disease, typhoid fever, and was never able to return to this home. He bore his suffering so patiently, and notwithstanding he had the best of care and everything was done for him that a loving wife and fond parents could do, after over four weeks of suffering he grew suddenly worse, and on Sunday morning at 10:30 on the above date his spirit took its flight.
While it seems hard that one so young should died, just when life seemed so full of promise, yet it was God's will that he should be taken from us and we can only bow in humble submission to His will.
The funeral sermon was preached by Bro. J. L. Snow, to a large crowd of sorrowing friends when he was laid to rest in Chapel Hill cemetery.
Weep not, dear friends, for our loss is Orvel's eternal gain."
