THREE DIE IN COLLISION
Three men died and one man suffered moderate injuries when a tractor-trailor and a Ford pickup truck collided Wednesday afternoon on Coyote Drive, south of Joplin, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Derick L. Rayburn, 26, of Seneca, one of the drivers, and two passengers, Robert E. Mattox, 34, of Neosho, and William H. Vaughn, 38, of Anderson, suffered fatal injuries.
Rayburn and Mattox were pronounced dead at the scene and were taken to Parker Morturary in Joplin, the patrol said. Vaughn was pronounced dead at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
James A. Potts, 32, Joplin, the driver of the tractor-trailor, was taken to Freeman Jospital West in Joplin.
The northbound Rayburn pickup crossed the center line and struck the southbound Potts semi at 1:40 p.m. according to the patrol.
