James A. Wheatley, a life long resident of Willow Springs, passed away after a long battle with a terminal illness on Oct. 12, 2009, while at his residence. Born December 13, 1952 in rural Howell County, Missouri to James Roy and Delores (Leininger) Wheatley, he was 56 years old. Mr. Wheatley was raised in the Willow Springs area where he lived his entire life. He was described as a hard worker who enjoyed working on his farm and later working in the construction trade for Amyx. He had many enjoyments in his life; however, he especially enjoyed being outdoors where he could spend his leisure time fishing. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him. James was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carolyn Shanks, one niece and one nephew. He is survived by his sisters Sonja Brown and her husband Glenn; Elsa Conway and her husband Donald; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Millie Aldrich, all of Willow Springs. Funeral services for James were Friday, Oct. 16, at the Bethel Community Church, located on State Route 76 in Willow Springs, with Pastor Lloyd Collins officiating. Burial followed Friday's service at the Dry Creek Cemetery in Willow Springs. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
