Charles C. McDowell, 85, a former resident of Howell County, died yesterday in Pratt, KS, where he had made his home with a son, Lloyd [should be Loid], since leaving here in 1936. Mr. McDowell was born in Ohio [census records have Iowa] in 1862 and came to Howell County in 1913.
He had resided in the Summers community of Howell County, MO; where he worked during his active life as a broom maker and farmer.
His wife, Mary D. McDowell, preceded him in death in October 1934. They were the parents of 16 children, eleven of whom are living.
The body will arrive here Friday morning and funeral services are scheduled to be held Saturday afternoon at the Thornburgh Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Valley Cemetery.
