ANDERSON, Mo. -- Gene W. Latty, 74, of Anderson died Dec. 21, 2007, at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was born March 28, 1933, in Lanagan, Mo., to Jasper Bryan and Mable Oma Harnar Latty Johnson.
He was a lifelong resident of McDonald County and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Dora Harper on Sept. 8, 1956. He was a carpenter and wood carver, and worked on building several homes in Bella Vista.
He had worked in logging, at a sawmill, as a truck driver, cabinet maker and had done maintenance work for McDonald County Health Care and the McDonald County High School. He enjoyed hunting and raising beef cattle.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Latty of the home; four children, G. Wayne Latty Jr. and wife Rebecca of Winnemucca, Nev., Vicki Young and husband David of Noel, Mo., Shirley Oxford and husband Dale of Anderson, Jeff Latty and wife Michelle of Anderson; one sister, Joy Dixon of Springfield, Mo.; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
