Donald Bain Wagner was born January 31, 1912 at Boyden, Iowa, one of a family of seven children born to James Herbert and Mary Wagner. He passed away Saturday, September 30, 1989.
He was a member and charter trustee of Faith and Hope Free Will Baptist Church. In World War II he served in the U.S. Army air Force overseas, and while serving in Europe he was awarded six Bronze Stars for air offensive in Europe, Northern France, Ardenns, Central Europe and Normandy, along with a unit citation with oak leaf cluster. He also received the Good conduct Medal and received an honorable discharge in 1945 after serving over three years. Don was a member of VFW Post #473 of Cabool and of the Grand Gulf Audubon Society. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Corp Donald B. Wagner married Jewel A. Miller in 1945. They had 1 child, Michael B. Wagner.
Don was a faithful husband, father and a faithful worker in his church. He will be greatly missed by his family and community.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, October 2, 1989 in Elliot-Gentry Chapel with Rev. H.G. Montgomery and Hubert Darter officiating. Burial was in the City Cemetery at Willow Springs under direction of Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home.
