Mr. Scott Odle well known and highly respected citizen of near Simmons, died Monday.
R.S. Odle was born June 15, 1858, and departed this life September 20, 1943, making his age at time of death 85 years, 3 months and 5 days.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Robinson in 1884, who preceded him in death in 1898. To this union four children were born: Albert Odle, Solo, Mo.; Stella Cowick, Little Rock, Ark.; Charles Odle, deceased; and Lee Odle, Solo, Mo.
He was again united in marriage to Ada Hogan April 17, 1900. To this union seven children were born: Martin Odle, of the home; Faye Hamilton, of Springfield, Mo.; Johnnie Odle, deceased; Tom Odle, of the home; Easter Sigman, Elk Creek, Mo.; Pearl Ice, Cabool, Mo.; and Lou Haney, Willow Springs.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, 9 children, 22 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was converted early in life and joined the New Hope Baptist Church. He lived a faithful christian life.
Funeral services were held at New Hope Church with Rev. Warren Smith officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lawrence, Mr. Robert Martin and Mr. Joe Blankenship furnished appropriate songs. Mrs.Frank Hogan was pianist. Three granddaughters served as flower girls. Burial was made in New Hope Cemetery under direction of the Elliott Funeral Home.
Mr. Odle had lived in Oak Dale community for many years and was highly esteemed as a citizen and neighbor; a kind and living husband and father.
The Republican joins with other friends in sincere sympathy to the bereaved.
