Captain Charles White 82 Years Old, Succumbs

Captain Charles Walker White, a former resident of Humansville, who has conducted a general merchandise store in Saginaw since 1901 died at 8:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hugh Conway, in Saginaw. He was 82 years old. Death was due to senility. Captain White was commander of a company in the Eighty-Third Indiana regiment, during the Civil War. In 1874 Captain White removed to Humansville from Versailles, Indiana. He was born in Utica, New York after his parents came over from Northern Ireland they then moved to Indiana where he had spent the greater part of his life until he enlisted in the Civil War. In 1901 he moved with his family from Humansville, Missouri to Saginaw, Missouri where he opened a store. He was widely known throughout the district.
He is survived by two daughters besides Mrs. Conway and four sons. They are Mrs. Gus Moon of Humansville, Mrs. Flora Ransom of Joplin, Samuel T. White of LaCrosse, Kansas, W.C. White of Web City, Harry L White and J.B. White of Joplin.
