Janet Sue Mead, 62 of Cabool, MO and formerly of Findlay, IL passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. She was bon on March 12, 1950 in Danville, IL the daughter of Caryl E. and Ruth M. (McCabe) Yantis. The family relocated to Findlay, IL shortly after she was born.
Janet graduated from Findlay High School with the Class of 1968. She obtained her cosmetology license in 1967 while still attending high school. Janet was united in marriage to Gary D. Mead from Cabool, MO on May 5, 1968 in Findlay, IL. Of this union, two sons were born, Tory A. and Gary D. Mead, Jr. The family moved to Missouri in 1973. Janet was a loving wife and mother. She bowled in a women’s bowling league for several years.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ellsworth and Betty Carroll; a brother, Jody Yantis; a niece, Carly Yantis and a sister-in-law, Diannia Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Gary; her sons, Troy and JR all of Cabool, MO; brothers, Bill Smith of Findlay, IL and Jack Yantis and wife, Kristi of Decatur, IL; a sister-in-law, Deanna Yantis of Findlay, IL; brother-in-law, Loren Johnson of Cabool, MO; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
