The Grant City (Mo) Star, Grant City, Worth co, Mo Mar 1, 1900.

Alexander Combs living four miles southeast of Grant City died Feb 25th, 1900 after a lingering illness of catarrh of the head.

The deceased was born in Louden county, Virginia, August 12th, 1817, being the youngest of seven brothers of whom two are yet living.

When about eight years of age he moved with his parents to Morgan county, Ohio.

There in 1840 he was married to Nancy Dye who now is left to mourn his death.

Of their children, four are dead, two are living in this county, one in Rhode Island and one in British America.

In 1865 he came to Moniteau county, Mo remaining there until 1881 when he removed to this county.

When thirty-six years of age he was converted under the labors of the Protestant Methodist church and at that time united with that denomination.

He was highly respected by all who knew him, as being a good citizen, a genial companion, a worthy neighbor and affectionate in his fmaily. Memory treasures up many pleasant associations with him by those who knew him best.

Funeral services were held at his home Feb 27th, after which he was buried in the Whorton graveyard.
