Woodley Thomas Johnson, son of Jim and Mary Wagner Johnson, was born in Texas County, MO on Oct. 24, 1886 and departed this life on May 8, 1970 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 14 days.
He was united in marriage October 18, 1908 at Cabool to Mae McGowen and to this union eight children were born. W. T., as he was known to all his friends, reared his family on a farm near Cabool, retied and moved to Mtn. Grove for a short time, then back to Cabool. His wife preceded him in death June 9, 1968 and one son, Clifton, died September 9, 1938.
He leaves to mourn his passing five daughters, Nellie Murr, Mtn. Grove; Mildred Lieske, Scranton, Iowa; Myrna Tate, Mtn. Grove; Edna Weiland, Waterloo, Iowa; and Macie Ford of St. Louis; two sons, Otto Johnson, Phoenix, Ariz., and Lloyd Johnson, Cabool; two brothers, Robert Johnson, Oskaloosa, Iowa; and Joe Johnson of Mtn. Home, Ark.; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elliott-Gentry Chapel with Rev. Charley Collins officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery.
