Zara Mose King, 100, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Cottonwood Point, died Friday, March 31, 2006 at the John J. Pershing VA Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff.

Born July 25, 1905 in Centerville, Tenn., he was the son of the late John G. King and Anna Fuller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Glowner King; one son, Sammie King, and one daughter, Minnie Bell Hilburn.

He lived in the Cottonwood Point community and worked as a sharecropper before ill health.

He was a member of the Tyler Church of God and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. King leaves two sons: Johnny King of Malden and Paul Richard King of East Prairie; two daughters: Mae Bell Barnett of Caruthersville and Helen Fehr of Paragould, Ark.; one sister, Jessie Creasy, of Jackson, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. King were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Jason Anderson officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Powell Funeral Home in charge of services.
