Orville Wayne Gann, 78, second son of Samuel P. Gann and Jessie M. Christeson Gann, was born Nov. 16, 1923, at Bloodland. He died Oct. 8, 2002, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
In early years, he worked with the Civilian Construction Corps. He entered the U.S. Navy and also served in the U.S. Air Force including the Reserves. In service, he was trained in truck driving which became his life's work, taking him over the continental United States. He was honored as a professional truck driver pulling double trailers without accidents.
He married Mary Ellen Greuter July 14, 1958. They had two sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and Connie Gann; a baby sister, Emily Ruth; and a granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years; two sons, James Wayne Gann of Independence and Johnny Leroy Gann of Gladstone; one daughter, Carolyn Sue Spicer of Mason, Tenn.; three sisters, Virginia Burley of Lansing, Mich., Hazel Thompson of Cabool and Ann Graves of House Springs; one brother, Walter Gann of Niangua; and six grandchildren.
Services were Oct. 11 at the Elliott-Gentry Funeral Home Chapel in Cabool with the Rev. George Sholtz officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Cabool Cemetery.
