Kayla Dawn Letterman, 23, was called home to be with the Lord on December 3rd, 2013 after years of struggling with epilepsy. Kayla passed away in her home in Willow Springs due to a fatal seizure.

Kayla was born on May 30th, 1990, at Texas Co. Memorial Hospital in Houston, Mo. She grew up in Willow Springs and was a member of the W.S. Class of 2008. Kayla received numerous awards and medals when she became involved in F.F.A., where she went on to become secretary and also president of the chapter. Kayla was currently in her final semester to achieve her bachelor’s degree at Drury University in Cabool. She had aspired to become a social worker upon completion. She worked at McDonald’s in Willow Springs since she was 16 and was a manager.

Kayla’s greatest accomplishment and proudest moment in life began on June 13th, 2012, when she became a mommy and blessed this world with her son Taven Shaddyx. Kayla was an amazing mother, treasured daughter, grand-daughter and niece, the greatest big sister, and most of all a true friend to all of those she loved.

Kayla is survived by her son, her everything, Taven and his father, Justin Frost of Willow Springs. She is also survived by her father, Jimmy Letterman; mother and step-father, Toby and John Martin and step-mother Bobbi Whittington all of Willow Springs. Kayla is also survived by her brother, Andy Letterman; sister, Kendra Aldridge and step-brothers, Garrett Sorrell and Jonathan and Jake Martin all of Willow Springs. Surviving grandparents include Linda Letterman of Willow Springs, Donna and Weyman Parmley of Anderson and Lu Adams of Cabool. Surviving aunts and uncles include, Justan Letterman of Oklahoma, Jim and Sarah Turnbull of Willow Springs, Michaelle Lee of Raymondville and Dean and Pam Adams of St. Louis. Cousins, Jacob and Julie Turnbull of Willow Springs, Coleman and Denim Lee of Raymondville, Amelia and Taylor Adams of St. Louis and Eddie Cameron of St. Joseph. Kayla is also survived by a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.

Kayla will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a ray of light to those who knew and loved her.

Although often teased for “never smiling”, Kayla loved to laugh. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family but most of all, snuggling, loving and playing with Taven.

Kayla was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Myrtle Adams, Irvan and Helen McClellan, and Ed and Pauline Letterman. Her grandfathers; “Pa-Pa Kenneth” Letterman and “Grandpa Louie” Adams and two uncles; Travis Cameron and Darrell Lee.
