Fred Harold Scheets, 69, was born December 29, 1914 at Tyrone, the son of Lee and Pearl Martin Scheets. He died October 13, 1984 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. A life-long resident of this area, he worked mostly in construction until his retirement. He had lived in Cabool for the past six years moving there from Salem, During World War II, he served in the Army, receiving his discharge in 1945. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and two sisters. Surviving are his wife, Ada of Cabool; two sons, Steven of Salem and Cheto of Berthoud, Colo.; one stepson, Larry Ussery of Springfield; one daughter, Mavis Way of Iowa; one stepdaughter, Frankie Elwood of Seymour; his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Atchely of Cassville; one brother, Frank Scheels of Cabool; one sister, Katheleen Wilson of Flat; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five stepbrothers and five stepsisters. Services were Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Elliott-Gentry. Chapel in Cabool with the; Rev. Darrel Loughridge officiating. Burial was in the Tyrone Cemetery. [From the Houston Herald]
